The Lonely Highway.

Together with writer Auke Hulst, Deleo drove from New York to San Francisco while drawing his feelings and findings on a scroll of paper which he carried with him in a wooden drawing box (fig. 1). The trip roughly followed the same route as described fifty years earlier by Jack Kerouac in his book ‘On the Road’ (1957).
Deleo produced a 30 meter scroll filled with drawings. The complete scroll has been published, combined with a written report by Auke Hulst, in the book ‘De Eenzame Snelweg’ (The Lonely Highway).
